How to get rid of a mattress in New Hampshire

New Hampshire has no statewide mattress disposal ban like Massachusetts. Most towns set their own mattress and box spring fees at the transfer station or through a hauler.

Facts checked against official state and town sources on 2026-11-05.

Statewide context

NHDES directs residents to local transfer stations or haulers for furniture, mattresses, and carpet (bulky waste). Rules and prices are municipal. Confirm size limits, dry/clean requirements, and whether non-residents are allowed.
